Romanby Golf and Country Club

Romanby golf course was designed by Will Adamson with greens constructed to USGA specifications and larde teeing areas. Eight of the holes involve water hazards, either from the River Wiske, which runs through the course or from one of the two large lakes guarding the second and eleventh greens and the twelth tiger tee position.

The course not only delights the senses but provides a stimulating challenge for golfers of all abilities. Each hole has a character of its own and contributes to a varied and truly memorable round of golf.

However, players should beware of the false sense of security which the gentle early holes can produce. The test of skill heightens as you approach Romanby's own Amen corner; a trio of challenging holes consisting of the par 3 eleventh over the lake, hole twelve possibly the longest par 5 you'll ever play, and the par 4 thirteenth, ranked stroke index 1. The tranquil parkland setting then takes over to calm you into the final stages and the highest point on the course is reached on the fifteenth green. The eighteenth fairway is bisected at around 230 yards by the River Wiske, leaving you faced with a critical decision: play long or play safe?
